Parenting Skills
Being a parent is a full time job that we find ourselves doing this with no training and sometimes little experience of children. Although it is extremely rewarding and fun it can at times be very demanding and stressful. Children develop in different ways and travel through many different stages. During these times we can find ourselves feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what is the best way to approach certain situations. (did I mention the dreaded tantrums).
However, don't despair!! Support is out there and by attending your local Midlothian Sure Start Centre you can come along and meet me! Unfortunately I am not able to wave a magic wand and change everything overnight, but you can join a group and hopefully leave the feeling behind that you are the only one out there who is finding the job of being a parent tricky (at the moment). However, you can find out about how to deal with the dreaded tantrums, sleepless nights and fussy eating. During this time you can meet new people, share ideas and feel that you are a person again and not just "Joe's mum or dad".
PEEP (Peers Early Education Partnership) is also available at most centres. This is an opportunity for making the most of everyday activities in a fun and secure environment. It is a place to have fun with your child. PEEP includes stories, signing and rhyme time so come along and give it a try.
If I can help with any parenting matter or find you a Peep Group please feel to give me a call.
